Planning a Multi-Country Gulf States Trip
Focus your itinerary on a 10-day loop through the UAE, Oman, and Qatar to minimize travel fatigue. Use high-speed regional carriers like Qatar Airways or Emirates to connect these hubs, and allocate at least three days per country to avoid rushing.
- Map your flight hub. Designate Dubai (DXB) or Doha (DOH) as your primary entry and exit points. These are the major transit hubs with the most frequent and affordable connectivity.
- Coordinate your visas. Check the entry requirements for each country specifically for your passport. While some states offer visa-on-arrival for specific nationalities, others require e-visas processed at least 7 days before arrival.
- Book regional flights. Use carriers like FlyDubai, Air Arabia, or Oman Air for short hops. Book these at least 3 weeks in advance to keep prices under $150 per flight.
- Adjust for local weekends. Remember that the work week in most Gulf states runs Sunday through Thursday. Friday is the holy day, meaning some souqs and government offices may be closed or have limited morning hours.
- Can I drive between countries?
- While possible, crossing borders by rental car is often restricted by rental agencies. It is much easier to fly between capitals.
- Do I need local currency everywhere?
- Credit cards are widely accepted in cities, but keep 50 USD worth of local cash for souqs and small tips.
