How to plan a 3-day ski trip to Whistler

Book your lift tickets and rentals online at least 14 days in advance to save money and skip the lines. Stay in Whistler Village if you want walk-to-lift access, or Creekside if you prefer a quieter vibe with faster mountain access via the Creekside Gondola.

  1. Secure your pass. Buy an Epic Pass or a multi-day Edge Card online well before your trip. Daily lift tickets at the window are significantly more expensive and often sold out on weekends.
  2. Book your shuttle. If you aren't renting a car, book the 'Skylynx' or 'Whistler Shuttle' from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) immediately after booking your flights. The drive takes 2.5 to 3 hours along the Sea-to-Sky Highway.
  3. Reserve rentals. Use a delivery service like Black Tie or schedule an in-store fitting for your rental gear at least 48 hours before you arrive to avoid the morning rush.
  4. Map your mountain days. Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are huge. Use the first day to explore the lower-mountain greens and blues, and save the Peak-to-Peak gondola and alpine bowls for your second and third days when you have your legs under you.
Do I need a car in Whistler?
No. The village is pedestrian-only and the free local shuttle system is excellent. A car is an unnecessary expense and parking is expensive.
Is it worth paying for ski school?
If you are a beginner, yes. Whistler's terrain is massive and a lesson will help you navigate the mountain safely and find the appropriate terrain for your level.
